Dr. Prang Snitbhan, Licensed Clinical Psychologist
About Dr. Prang Snitbhan
It is my privilege to help others discover their strengths, develop self-compassion, and cultivate cooperative and supportive relationships. My overarching goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space for clients to become open, look inward, get to know themselves, and achieve an enduring positive outcome that provides hope and the skills to cope with life’s challenges. I use a variety of theoretical orientations, including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, family systems, mindfulness-based therapy techniques, and strength-based approaches, based on the needs of an individual and his or her family.
My specialty is working with children, adolescents and their families, who have suffered from anxiety, depression, attentional challenges, and social skills difficulties. I have thirteen years of experience working in a variety of settings including public, private, and international schools, group practices and hospitals. A significant part of my work with tweens and adolescents is coaching parents on how to understand their child’s development and temperament as well as how to care for their child’s emotional life. I believe that a collaboration with parents is the key to a successful treatment outcome.
I am also the author of Girl Time: A Mother-Daughter Activity Book for Sharing, Bonding, and Really Talking (Shambhala Publications, 2016), with German, Spanish, and Polish editions on the way. I wrote Girl Time to encourage moms and their tween daughters to learn to listen to each other and teach them skills on how to talk about difficult feelings in a way that is safe, effective, and not scary.
Another passion of mine is working with the young adult population, guiding them through relationship issues, coping with academic pressures and stresses, managing their independence and freedom, shaping and forming identity, and teaching important life skills. Former clients have described me as warm, funny, direct, non-judgmental, and effective.
When I am not working, I enjoy doing yoga, writing, cooking, and making crafts. My husband, daughter, and I love to travel and spend weekends hiking in the mountains. I am originally from Bangkok, Thailand. Even though I came to school and have lived in the US more than 20 years, my Thai is still fluent. I love living in Boulder and raising a family in this special place, surrounded by nature!
