Psychiatric Medication Management

How We Work: Psychiatric Medication Management

Psychiatric Prescriptions

Many mental health disorders and symptoms are related to a chemical imbalance in the brain. Medication can be an important part of treating a variety of conditions, from ADHD and chronic illness to stress, anxiety, trauma and depression. But, it is not right for everyone.

At Stepwell Mental Health & Wellness, our independent, specialized psychiatric nurse practitioners have years of experience treating mental health and psychiatric conditions. Like a psychiatrist, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is qualified to prescribe medication and has specialized psychiatric training. In addition, a PMHNP is required to have doctoral or master’s level training and advanced clinical training in order to practice and prescribe independently. The PMHNP credential is a Board certification granted through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. And, because our healthcare professionals are knowledgeable and experienced with mental health issues, psychotherapy and the medication prescribed to treat anxiety, depression, trauma and severe stress, we offer a comprehensive and complete treatment plan that is tailored to best support and address your individual needs.

Questions About Medication

Many mental health disorders and symptoms are related to a chemical imbalance in the brain. Yet, often, many people feel too distressed, embarrassed, helpless or ashamed to reach out for help and start the healing process. You may believe that you are the only one who is struggling and you should be able to recover without medication. The truth, however, is that nearly 50 percent of individuals in the U.S. are taking at least one prescription drug, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Medication can be an important part of treating a variety of conditions, from ADHD and chronic illness to stress, anxiety, trauma and depression. But, it is not right for everyone.

Our prescription management specialists will work with you to help you understand understand why you are struggling and determine the best treatment approach for your particular needs. Whether you would benefit from medication, therapy or a combination of the two, there is a path to a happier, calmer and more satisfying life.

Find Relief, Healing and Ongoing Support with Medication Management

We provide a safe, confidential environment where you can meet with our compassionate practitioners to assess your needs and develop a strategic, tailored treatment approach. We take the time to get to know you, exploring your symptoms, history and personal goals so we can determine if medication can help you find relief and healing. Whether you are just starting treatment or you already have a prescriber or therapist, our highly trained and specialized practitioners can provide you with the education, support and guidance needed to realize meaningful and lasting change.

Medication isn’t right for everybody. For many people, however, it is an essential part of care and treatment. Our highly trained specialists will collaborate with you to assess your needs and therapy goals to decide the best treatment approach, whether that involves medicine, therapy or a combination of both. If you are already in therapy and need medication, or if you already have a psychiatrist and need psychotherapy, we can work with other providers to incorporate medication or therapy in a strategic way that supplements your existing treatment plan.

We are passionate about helping individuals find the right treatment and/or medication option for their unique symptoms, goals and needs. With the right guidance and support, you can find a path toward relief and foster more happiness, peace and satisfaction in your life, career and relationships.
