Dr. Katherine Knight, Licensed Clinical Psychologist
About Dr. Katherine Knight
As a therapist, I have the best job in the world. I get to work with such amazing people and help them find more emotional freedom and happiness. My life has come with its own set of challenges and I’d love to teach you some of the tools I’ve learned that have transformed my life.
I offer a holistic approach to therapy, focusing on the mind, body and spirit.
I love helping my clients realize how amazing life can be and that it doesn’t need to be a struggle.
I love helping my clients find ways to break free of past experiences so they can push forward in a new direction.
I love teaching my clients how to honor themselves so that they can experience more joy, freedom and fulfillment.
Why Work With Me?
Your therapy will be specifically tailored to you and your concerns. In fact, you and I will work together to decide what approach/es will be most helpful to you. Because each individual is different, there is no one approach that is best for everyone.
My own mindfulness practice helps me to stay grounded and focused with you regardless of what you are experiencing. If you’d like, we can also discuss mindfulness-based therapy techniques that could help you in your day-to-day life.
In addition, I have a strong research background and completed my PhD at a program with very rigorous research standards. This allows me to stay in touch with and understand the current research as it relates to providing the best possible services to my clients.
A Bit About Me Personally
I originally moved to Boulder in 1999 to attend the University of Colorado, Boulder. Although I’ve moved and traveled a lot since then, Boulder has always been my home. I love everything this city has to offer, from the mountains to the restaurants and shops, to the local music in the area.
I love being in nature, getting outside with my dog, Cyrus, a rambunctious silver Lab, spending time with my loved ones and enjoying good food and entertainment. I’m deeply passionate about music, especially live music, travel, yoga, mindfulness, empowerment of women and girls in all walks of life, nature and almost any opportunity to explore the world.
My burning passion for travel and exploration has inspired me to travel and live in many parts of the world, including Africa, Asia, Australia, Central America, Europe and North America. Some of my more profound experiences have come from living in a riot-ridden city in Cameroon and a mud hut in a small, rural village in Ghana, but each country and culture has deeply informed my perspective in life. Through my drive to explore the world, I’ve continuously found kernels of understanding and awareness that I
bring to my therapy practice every day.
These experiences are a part of what helps me to see the bigger picture in challenging situations, which
has been an invaluable skill in my work as a therapist. I make an effort to help you embrace the good things in your life in order to help you get through the more difficult ones.
On a personal level, some of the most challenging experiences in my own life are the things that I’ve learned and grown the most from and they’re what make me the person I am today. That background informs my perspective as a therapist and I believe that even the most challenging experiences in your own life will eventually provide you with an opportunity to grow in some way.
I’ve been providing therapy since 2008, successfully helping adults, adolescents and their families. Before I began my private practice as a psychologist, I was employed in several organizations where I provided therapy as well as psychological and neuropsychological assessments.
