About Rob Owens

Now with weekend availability!

I am lucky enough to have a job that I not only love but feel like I was born to do. With that said, if you would have asked eighteen-year-old me what I would be doing in twenty years, I never in a thousand years would have said Psychiatry. My personal path to healthcare has been circuitous at best; it took me from the small Appalachian farm town where I grew up in Southern Ohio (where it was not uncommon for homes to have no indoor plumbing) to Colorado, with layovers in Arizona, Kentucky, Nebraska, and Illinois. Along the way, I earned the degrees and licenses I need to do my job, as well as the hard-earned experience needed to be truly qualified and worthy of it.

I now have over 15 years of mental health experience, ranging from volunteer work with at risk youth on Chicago’s South Side, to helping preteens recover after being rescued from the sex trade, to implementing Southeast Indiana’s first medication-assisted treatment program. During my career, I have done just about every job in healthcare imaginable, from pushing patients around hospitals in wheelchairs, to cleaning bedpans, to now being part of a highly progressive, private psychiatric and mental health practice.

I am not your average provider. The relationship I have with my clients is always a partnership. You and I will work together to meet your goals in a way that makes sense for you with a care plan designed specifically for you. I may, at times, ask more of you than previous providers have, but I will also bring more to the table myself. I’m always open to hearing your ideas, as I believe that no one knows what’s right for you better than you do.

As a prescriber, I look for the least invasive, and safest approach first, often choosing to adopt holistic approaches like therapy, life-style changes, and correcting dietary and vitamin deficiencies when indicated. When appropriate, I bring humor into sessions, and strive to leave you feeling better than before you walked in.

As a board-certified psychiatric prescriber, I’ve helped people with a wide range of mental health concerns. I’m comfortable working with any diagnosis, and I’m confident in my ability to provide guidance and be a positive force in your life as you navigate through life’s most challenging times, and the good times as well. I especially enjoy treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and PTSD.

I moved to Colorado in the summer of 2017 with my wife (a Colorado native), our two-year-old son, our cat, and our dog. Not long after arriving at our new home, we celebrated the birth of our daughter as well. In my free time, I enjoy hiking with my family, exploring my new home on my bicycle, reading, woodworking, home improvements, and restoring old cars.
